Why Support Local Farms?

Enhance local economy: By purchasing produce and other items from local growers you are providing stability to your local economy through the support of local businesses who are more responsive to community needs and conditions.

Provide learning opportunities: Supporters provide member growers and artisans the means to help educate our community about the importance of sustainable agriculture and living.

Supporting a way of life: The number of small farms in Canada has decreased dramatically in the last decade. Please help us preserve an honest and worthy means of making a living.

What does this mean for you, and why does it beat going to the big grocery stores?

Better Food: By shopping our producers that meet our fresh, local, sustainable criteria, you'll get the freshest, tastiest food around. You know where it came from, how it was made, and you can talk to the folks who made it.

Less Hassle:  You can cross this week's groceries off your to-do list in a matter of minutes - from work, home, or on the go, with our online store.  No lines, no traffic, no questioning the quality or freshness.

Recipe of the Week:

Sweet Pepper Jelly
A Pure Delight

3/4 cup finely chopped red bell pepper
3/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
1 1/2 cup white vinegar
6 1/2 cups white sugar
2 packets liquid pectin (6 tablespoons)
3 Pint Sized canning jars - sterilized (or 6-7 Half Pint Sized canning jars)

  1. Combine the first 4 ingredients in a large stainless steel sauce pan (make sure to use one with high sides because it will rise and you don't want it to boil over).
  2.  Bring mixture to a boil, and boil for 6 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Add the pectin and continue boiling and stirring for an additional 3 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and skim off (and discard) and foam on top with a spoon. Ladle the jelly into the prepared jars. Wipe off the rims and apply the lids.
  5. Place the jars in a large pot of water and bring to a boil for 5-10 minutes. Carefully remove from water and let cool. Jars can be stored at room temperature. Once opened, store in refrigerator.
